Described by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as a "fun band", by Linus Volkmann as "pleasantly whiny post-punk with original lyrics" and by themselves as "worse than punk rock". We are excited!

HVDN from Hamburg makes music with synthesizers, samplers, laptops and heart. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes danceable.

For the Asphaltsprenger Festival he will be bringing you a relaxed set for spring with old and new tracks, live sequencing and natural sounds.

MPC LAFOTE is a post-wave act from Hamburg. Hard pop as a result is the further development of the post-punk band LAFOTE.

The stuff is very, very, very danceable. Even people who normally only tap their little toe have been seen at MPC Lafote concerts who couldn't hold themselves up any longer.

René Tenenjou from Hamburg with Cameroonian roots makes music for the soul. The multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter focuses on bossa jazz and Afro beats and performs with his band.

Instrumental harp music to dream to. Rika takes you into the Celtic, mystical world of sound. She is accompanied by her duo partner Joseph Hanopol on guitar and percussion. Gentle melodies radiate a dreamy mood that is surrounded by rhythmic elements. The harp melodies tell fairy tales and conjure up inner images of moss-covered trees, enchanted forests, mist-covered mountains and crystal-clear lakes.

Saeko Killy effortlessly combines elements of dub, post-punk and kraut with electronic beats to perform her sometimes Japanese, sometimes English lyrics. In recent years, she has made a name for herself as a DJ and live artist in the Berlin scene around the Sameheads club. Her debut album "Morphing Polaroids" was released on Bureau B in 2023.

Wosto was born in 1980 in Geseke (a small town in "Wostfalia"). As he would call himself an animal lover, he released all of the animals from Geseke in 1995 and rode a donkey through his hometown. The police came and arrested Wosto and his animal gang into a seperate district, where he still lives with them and plays records for them. To this day, many visitors come to see him playing and dancing and feed him with new music by throwing the records over the fence. It is said that there is a secret tunnel, so Wosto can escape from time to time and play some secret gigs outside.

In 2013 Wosto and his best friend Kluentah founded FALLBEIL. So far they released many records on different labels all over the world. In 2017 Wosto and the two members of NOSTALGIE ÉTERNELLE started the trio SAUERSTOFFF. Wosto is also releasing solo records and is running his own vinyl label - TEERPAPPE

Ben Nurgenç invites you to a performative workshop to explore the local ecology. Mushrooms, lichens, plants and everything that crawls out of concrete cracks will be put under the microscope. Ben introduces interested parties to the artistic exploration of living creatures and their habitats.

Interactive evaluation of the Citizen Sensing Workshops on particulate matter measurement!

At 17:15, we will interactively evaluate the results of the citizen sensing workshops on air quality in Hamburg. We will explain the findings based on the teams' noted observations, discuss the differences between measured and modeled values and question what this means for the prediction of air quality and citizen sensing practices. Individual topics can then be explored in more depth at the hands-on stand in conversation with the scientists.

HSBK Long Table of Building Culture

We roll out the tablecloth and discuss the topic of #City design in climate change. For the discussion at the long table, different and perhaps unusual positions will be presented in turn and then discussed over small delicacies. Ideas and thoughts can be noted directly on the tablecloth, sketches and suggestions are welcome. You are welcome to come along!

PARKS with the opening of the season

PARKS is made by many. Since the beginning, the project has been supported by a large and changing group of neighbors, actors from all over the city and local workers, without whom such a project would not be possible. They - as well as many other volunteers and unpaid supporters, associates and friends - help with the practical implementation and ongoing reflection. Instead of the usual collaboration with planners or architects, the project is conceived and managed by culturally active people who, although locally based, are networked far beyond this spatial context. Starting from the initiating Hallo: e.V., a project team was formed, which was expanded by the landscape architecture firm atelier le balto. All participants contribute their networks, experience and ideas to the process.

PARKS is therefore not only a project, but above all a process. A programmatic push in a new direction - a joint negotiation of what public space can be, a new perspective on thinking, planning, designing and using public green spaces and thus creating new practices of collaborative planning and cooperative urban space design.

Hamburg's gardens, alliance for urban gardening

The Hamburg Gardens Network is an alliance of local urban gardening projects and community gardens. More and more people are becoming actively involved in Hamburg's gardening projects. Gardening and, in some cases, cooking together creates a sense of identity for the districts and neighborhoods. Open spaces and wasteland are planted and cared for by the community, creating local added value. In addition, green learning spaces and areas for experiencing nature are created for both children and adults.

KulturEnergieBunkerAltonaProjekt

The KulturEnergieBunkerAltonaProjekt, or KEBAP for short, aims to create spaces for culture and generate decentralized energy in the high-rise bunker in Schomburgstraße in Hamburg-Altona. KEBAP brings the future of heat supply to the district: low CO2, decentralized and organized as a cooperative. In addition, KEBAP opens up urgently needed open spaces for neighbourly exchange and community-organized culture. The bunker is intended to be a garden, living room, kitchen, climate-friendly boiler house and experimental workshop for the district.

Biodiversity on the central reservation

We usually walk past them carelessly, the plants of the pavement cracks, roadsides and central reservations. A pity, really. Because in the planned, sealed and gardened landscape of city centers, they are the only survivors of spontaneous urban nature. My little talk is dedicated to them.

Blue-green infrastructures for climate-resilient cities

As a result of climate change, heavy rainfall events and periods of drought are steadily increasing. However, our cities are not prepared for this: They are highly compacted and largely sealed. As a result, rainwater cannot seep away and flows into the sewage system, which is not designed for heavy rainfall. The result is flooding and flooded cellars. Sealing also contributes to the warming of cities.

Urban planning that addresses the challenges of climate change must therefore pay more attention to green infrastructure in the form of green spaces, connected green corridors, green roofs and building facades. Blue infrastructure such as infiltration and evaporation areas, retention areas, drainage channels and cisterns for irrigation in dry weather must also be included in the planning.

If this is successful, it is referred to as a sponge city, which can absorb and store water. In addition, the green and water areas provide shade and evaporative cooling, which can significantly reduce temperatures in cities during hot spells.

Conclusion Urban nature and building culture

Current discussions about sustainable planning and building focus strongly on technical feasibility and its economic consequences - the Hamburg Foundation for Building Culture (HSBK) is broadening the discourse and placing design at the center.

Urban spaces have a lot to do and some areas already offer underground space for additional uses, such as district heating lines under the streets or underground car parks under courtyards. Rainwater is an important resource in view of the strong warming. Disposing of it in the sewage system as "waste water" is not a good solution. To allow it to seep into the ground, unsealed surfaces are needed, which are rare in cities.

Therefore, in order to use water efficiently, places are being sought where it can be temporarily collected or slowly seep away. The city would function like a sponge and water could be used in a more targeted manner.

In addition to the so-called "blue infrastructure", a lot of "green" is still needed - more plants, more trees! They can grow on roofs and facades, protect against overheating and supply urban fauna.

In the past, there was no asphalt, but there were stones, lots of stones, in the fields, on the paths, in the woods. From small pebbles to large boulders. Most of them were quite ordinary, but there were always special ones too, ones that could come to life or ones that people had been transformed into. The storyteller Elita Carstens will tell you whether it stayed that way or how it went on, freely and vividly - fairy tales from different cultures, come along on the journey to the special stones!

Fairy tales for young and old from the age of 4

Together with you, we want to discover all the edible things that grow on our doorstep. We will prepare a small snack and refreshment with local wild herbs, learn exciting stories about them and paint and craft with plants.

Freibeuter e.V. organizes environmental education activities for children and young people in Hamburg and shows them how exciting and delicious nature is on our doorstep. In this way, we raise awareness of healthy eating and a responsible approach to nature and introduce sustainability issues in a playful way.

HALLO: Radio is a self-organized community radio station and has been broadcasting live from Hammerbrook every week since 2019.

He takes his young readers on an adventurous foray into the forest, the meadow and the water. Along the way, they have the most amazing encounters with animals and plants, learn all sorts of surprising and revealing things about the various habitats - and also about how humans have changed, threatened or even created them. And afterwards, everyone will also know why some mayflies are wrongly named ...

For families and children aged nine and over

We will have a wilderness stand in the park at the festival and will be ready to help you, young and old, discover wild corners of the festival site, play games, browse through identification books or even conjure up a surprise or two from our toolbox. We look forward to seeing you!

Heike Kammer from the human rights organization Peace Brigades International has been touring Latin America and German-speaking countries with Rosita's puppet stage for almost 20 years.

In the puppet theater performance "A Baltic Sea voyage is fun", children (aged 5 and over) deal with environmental protection issues. Together with Matea and Mattis, the children embark on a journey through the seas, where they meet a princess on a desert island who carelessly throws her garbage into the sea. That's why the fish die. They also meet a fisherman's boy who is very sad because he can no longer catch fish. Together with the children, the four protagonists find a solution so that the fisherman's boy can catch fish again.

Before the performance, the kids can make their own hand puppets from old socks and fabric together with Heike.

The performance takes place in the "children's tent". Opposite the "Lasterbühne" at the flood basin.

In this ESD theater performance, young and old audience members learn about the fascinating world of soil creatures in an imaginative and musical way: woodlice, millipedes, spiders, springtails and bacteria. Together with earthworm superstars, they ensure healthy soil. And this is also extremely relevant to the climate. By building up humus, carbon dioxide can be returned to the soil.

At the Adventure Rainforest stand there will be hands-on activities about the rainforest:

The ADFC Hamburg campaigns for cycling in Hamburg, for example for safe roads, clear intersections and sufficient bicycle stands.

At the Asphaltsprenger Festival, we will help you with small bike repairs and show you how to get your bike up and running again quickly if it breaks down.

You can show how safe you are on your bike in our slow riding competition. Who can ride the route in the longest time? At the end of the day, there will be a small surprise for the slowest rider.

We founded the non-profit association Citizens Forests 5 years ago in Bönningstedt with the aim of planting unused areas with native trees for climate protection. We work on a voluntary basis with volunteers and pass on our know-how free of charge to committed people who would like to carry out a planting campaign in their region. At our stand, we will discuss with you how you can get involved and what is special about our planting method. We look forward to meeting you!

The German Wildlife Foundation is committed to native wildlife and gives nature and wild animals a voice.

At our hands-on stand, you can plant sunflowers and thus create an important source of food for sparrows, for example. There are also lots of interesting facts to discover about sparrows and our native wildlife.

An important focus of our non-profit nature conservation association is the special habitat of the freshwater floodplain. This habitat between Stade and Geesthacht is unique in Europe. We run the Elbe Tidal Floodplain Center with an association café in Moorwerder.

Our association also looks after 14 of Hamburg's 37 nature reserves. We actively protect species and biotopes, offer a diverse environmental education program and are involved in shaping and discussing politics within the city.

Hands-on stand with citizen sensing workshops on particulate matter measurement!

Scientists from the Department of Chemical Transport Modeling at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, together with the Co-Creation & Engagement Center of the University of Hamburg, invite you to get to grips with measuring, monitoring and predicting air quality in the city. We will demonstrate the digital platform for air quality prediction throughout the event and playfully explore how and why residents can collect data themselves. In two workshops (14:30 and 15:30), up to 8 teams can use our mini-sensors to independently measure particulate matter around the PARKS site. The results will be evaluated in an interactive presentation at 17:15.

The JugendUmweltTreff Eimsbüttel will be at the Asphaltsprenger again this year! With various games at our stand, you will learn about the consumption of single-use plastic and about dangerous chemicals that we encounter everywhere in everyday life. Together we will make our own sustainable deodorant cream, which you can take home with you and try out. You can also paint sustainable cotton carrier bags at our stand and take them with you when you go shopping. We look forward to seeing you there!

The KulturEnergieBunkerAltona project aims to bring culture and energy together and turn the previously inhospitable-looking building into a community space. Until the bunker is renovated, we will use it as a venue for workshops, school collaborations and gardening activities. We will also be focusing a lot on topics relating to ecology, nutrition and sustainability, which will be directly implemented in the garden around the bunker.

The children's city will be a guest at the Asphaltsprenger on May 4, where you can get to know the rules of a children's city.

This year, the Children's City will take place on the same site as the Asphaltspreng City Nature Festival. In the first two weeks of the summer vacations from 22 July to 2 August 2024, up to 500 children can take part in the free vacation program. Every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., children between the ages of 7 and 15 will have the opportunity to build and design their own city.

With the concept you developed in 2022 and expanded in 2023, this year's theme is 'City and Nature'. In the specially 'built' forest, in the radio and on the skate and basketball court, children will once again take over the creative design and the adults will take a supporting role in the background.

PrimaKlima, the cross-sectional project of Lenzsiedlung e.V., combines social work with climate protection and environmental awareness. Together with the University of Hamburg, we are focusing on creative activities such as the parklet, the garden project and interactive workshops in the Lokstedt high-rise housing estate to strengthen climate resilience and revitalize the neighbourhood.

Take part in the animal Olympics: climb like a squirrel, look like an owl, jump like a frog and smell like a beaver. We'll also explain why the beaver has such big yellow teeth and what its trowel is all about.

At our stand you will receive information about the "MOIN STADTNATUR" project. This is Hamburg's advice center for nature-oriented gardens, balconies and open spaces. You will find out how you can create a small natural paradise on your balcony or in your own garden.

Let the city blossom together with us and do something good for biodiversity. If you feel like it, you can make your own seed bag and take a portion of certified Regio seeds with you!

Numerous fascinating animal specimens can be found on 2,000 square meters. From huge whale skeletons to tiny insects, you can discover animals from all over the world in all sizes, shapes and colors. You can even see bears, tigers and crocodiles up close. Together with the zoological exhibition, the geology-palaeontology and mineralogy sections are also part of the Museum der Natur Hamburg of the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB).

MycoLutions develops recyclable materials with fungal mycelium. Mushroom mycelium, the root network of the fungus, penetrates and decomposes organic materials in its natural habitat. MycoLutions makes use of this ability and develops an upcycling process for organic waste materials. The fungal mycelium binds particles together like straw to form a solid composite material. MycoLutions uses this sustainable material to produce acoustic and insulation products to replace polystyrene and other harmful materials.

The silent and secretive hunters of the night, our bats, need friends. Learn more about the fascination of the only actively flying mammals since prehistoric times at our stand. We will introduce you to the special features and lifestyles of this extraordinary animal species.

As an independent and non-profit organization, NABU-Hamburg looks forward to your visit. We will also be happy to answer your questions about nature conservation work in the most beautiful city in the world.

The NaJe association aims to raise the profile of African culture in Germany and make it easier for migrants to arrive. The association is particularly active in neighboring Rothenburgsort, where the NaJe Festival is held every year with numerous African artists.

More and more people are seeking recreation in Hamburg's urban parks and nature reserves. At the same time, however, urban greenery is also an important habitat for plants and animals. NATÜRLICH HAMBURG! starts right there and shows that the city and nature do not have to be opposites. The aim is to inspire people to design their local green spaces in a way that is close to nature. This requires a new perspective on urban nature and respectful cooperation. Work with nature, not against it!

What exactly is permaculture? You've probably heard the term before - but what exactly does it mean and what is permaculture good for? We at Permakultur kollektiv e.V. are convinced that permaculture offers so many solutions to our current challenges, whether environmental or social, that more people need to get to know it. That's why we founded our non-profit association in 2023. We offer workshops and lectures and would like to network with other permaculture enthusiasts in and around Hamburg.

You will get a first insight at our stand. Take a playful approach to the ethical principles and pragmatic approaches of permaculture and get to know us and our association.

The podcast "Nebelhorn" by Scientists for Future Hamburg introduces people who are working in and around Hamburg in a wide variety of fields on the topic of a sustainable future. We talk to researchers and people from related fields about their activities, challenges and solutions. We try to show exciting details about the current state of scientific development.

Schrott bewahre is a non-profit association with the aim of establishing a materials initiative in Hamburg and promoting the local circular economy.

After events such as trade fairs, after large events, when buildings are demolished or after the end of complex productions, valuable materials often simply end up in the trash. Often only because there are no structures in place to reuse these materials. This waste of precious resources is absurd, especially given the current enormous demand for inexpensive materials. Artists, children's theaters, social institutions, students, cultural workers and other creative minds urgently need these resources for their projects. Event organizers, production companies and small businesses are also increasingly interested in sustainable materials.

In order to stop waste and conserve resources, we want to create a place where materials can be collected, passed on and information provided on the topics of sustainability, the circular economy and recycling.

Solawi-Vierlande is a non-profit association for ecological, solidarity-based and regional vegetable supply and environmental education. It is financed by membership fees from the currently 250 households in Hamburg; the members share the harvest, risk and responsibility. The market garden is run by 4 employed gardeners; the depots, member administration, logistics and IT are self-organized and run on a voluntary basis.

We enable solidarity among members: once a year, the bidding round takes place, which enables a balance between financially better and worse off members. There are currently still free harvest shares for the current season!

The Vollhöfner forest grew wild and free for almost 60 years on a rinsing field at the port of Hamburg. In 2015, the Hamburg government decided to clear the forest for logistics areas. Studies showed that this forest is a very valuable, irreplaceable habitat. It is also at the heart of the biotope network. People who care about the forest founded the Vollhöfner Wald climate protection initiative and publicized this unique gem with walks and many campaigns. Successful!

WeField is committed to a climate-positive future. Our aim is to transform land with little life into ecosystems for animals, plants and people. We are a growing group of young people who are committed to their environment by implementing projects on unused land with many people, imparting knowledge and encouraging participation.

We are united by the common goal of making a practical contribution to an environment worth living in by following a holistic approach that aims to create new living spaces for all. We build on three fields of action: urban areas, schools and agricultural land. Together with farmers, schools and the city of Hamburg, we implement context-related projects together with many volunteers.

Our projects are financed by the Hamburg Climate Protection Foundation and Hamburger Volksbank, among others. This enables us to analyze, reforest and sustainably manage areas. This results in near-natural areas, regenerative agroforestry systems and orchards, among other things.

As people from all over the world, we are striving to gain the right to climate protection in order to be able to adequately protect our environment and nature. Citizens of the EU and Germany are allowed to participate in climate protection signature campaigns, while others are denied this right.

Wild Forest - Wilhelmsburg, we are also trying to save this valuable biotope. Since March 2023, we have been informing the people of Hamburg with multilingual "forest adventures" so that we can save around 10 hectares of forest.

Andreas Dorau, an artist and musician from Hamburg, has been releasing recordings on an irregular basis since 1981. One theme that runs through his entire oeuvre is animals and nature. He will be a guest at the Asphaltsprenger for the third time, presenting and commenting on pieces about the North German animal world. An audiovisual tour in five stations awaits you. Specialist animal experts will also have their say. Be there!

The Stadtgrün department of the Mitte district will present the current planning status for the Alster-Bille-Elbe green corridor along the flood basin during a walk.

Using an infrared camera, we explore the really hot spots on the event site and talk about how the heat in the city can be reduced.

As part of the Architecture Summer 2023, a project group from Architects4Future Hamburg developed a digital city tour and presented various Hamburg buildings with our demands. Another highlight is the art by STUDIO OFFBEAT, which highlights the buildings digitally in a unique way.

The exhibition Baut keinen Scheiß, which was subsequently shown at the qvartr Gallery, can now be seen again at the Asphaltsprenger Festival - come along!

The future workshop "The desealers of Hamburg" shows the effects of climate change on urban settlements in an interactive and realistic way. The high degree of sealing, the increasing frequency of heavy rainfall events and the increasing heat phases in summer represent a major need for action for cities like Hamburg. The future workshop combines theoretical content from the areas of soil, water and surface sealing with practical experience through experiments and practical tasks and provides real-life insights into the future challenges facing HAMBURG WASSER.

Exhibition #City design in climate change

Current discussions about sustainable planning and building focus strongly on technical feasibility and its economic consequences - the Hamburg Foundation for Building Culture (HSBK) is broadening the discourse and placing design at the center.

The exhibition # Urban Design in Climate Change presents projects and design approaches that take into account aspects of climate protection, the appropriate use of resources and strategies for adapting to the consequences of climate change. Posters illustrate what urban spaces that collect water or variants of more "green" on buildings can look like.

Behind the synonym "Trees On Testosterone" is Leon Winkel (he/they) - musician, graphic designer and self-taught visual artist. Following his solo exhibition at the Vorwerkstift in February this year, he is installing his abstract paintings in the Rondell for Asphaltsprenger. The symbol of hope for a free life from the famous 1968 slogan "Under the pavement lies the beach" is taken up and reinterpreted.
